history

The history of power supply in the Celle and Uelzen region and in the city of Celle has been shaped by several companies. On the one hand, it has its origins in the "Städtisches Elektrizitätswerk Celle", which supplied the city of Celle with its plant in Celle Hafenstrasse from 1906. In 1909, the Allerzentralen took over the supply of electricity to Celle. They are the forerunners of the later Stadtwerke Celle.

The power supply of the districts of Celle and Uelzen began in 1913 with the establishment of the overland centers in Celle and Uelzen. From these the later SVO emerged. The two district networks were linked in the same year. The Allerzentralen initially also took over the supply of the first electricity customers in the districts. This makes them the trailblazers for power supply in the region. The electricity required was supplied via two 15,000-volt lines that run from Oldau to the central stations in Unterlüß and Schmarbeck . From there the power line went on via Suderburg and Ellerndorf into the network of the district of Uelzen.

On January 1, 2000, in the course of privatization, the former municipal and district-owned original companies were merged and the majority were sold to the E.ON subsidiary Avacon AG . In that year, the power supply Osthannover, which had emerged from the two intercity centers, merged with the Celle utilities to form SVO Energie GmbH.

The amended Energy Industry Act stipulates that the branding of a network operator must be clearly different from that of sales. In 2012, the network operator SVO Energie GmbH became Celle-Uelzen Netz GmbH with a new brand identity.

In 2013 the SVO celebrated its 100th anniversary with a celebration in Celle Hafenstrasse and open days in Celle and Uelzen.
