Management of Bayernwerk AG in Regensburg

The Bayernwerk AG (until July 2013 E.ON Bayern AG ) has a 100-percent subsidiary of E.ON -Konzerns based in Regensburg and operates distribution networks for electricity and gas in Bavaria. According to its own statement, Bayernwerk AG is the largest regional network operator in Bavaria and supports over 1200 municipalities in the energy transition . The Bayernwerk Group is structured as follows: Bayernwerk AG, Bayernwerk Netz GmbH, Bayernwerk Natur GmbH, EnergieNetze Bayern GmbH, Südwasser GmbH and energielösung GmbH.

history

E.ON Bayern emerged in 2001 from the five Bavarian regional suppliers Isar-Amperwerke , Energieversorgung Oberfranken , OBAG , Überlandwerk Unterfranken and Großkraftwerk Franken . On July 1, 2013, E.ON Bayern was renamed Bayernwerk. The reason for this was a legal requirement that network operation and energy sales must be clearly separated from each other.

Network area

Bayernwerk Netz GmbH is a distribution network operator in the Bavarian regions of Upper Franconia, Lower Franconia, Upper Palatinate, Lower Bavaria and Upper Bavaria. The network area thus covers around 41,200 square kilometers. The medium and low voltage power grid is 153,000 kilometers long; the natural gas network is 5,700 kilometers long. In addition, Bayernwerk operates a street lighting network with a length of 34,500 kilometers and a high-voltage network. The network area extends over Lower and Upper Franconia, the Upper Palatinate and Lower and Upper Bavaria. Bayernwerk has connected around 260,000 regenerative generation systems to its network and distributes more than 60 percent exclusively regenerative energy. With four regional lines (Würzburg, Bayreuth, Regensburg, Munich) and 19 customer centers, there are locations in all parts of the network area.

Employee

The Bayernwerk Group currently employs around 2,800 people; 500 of them are on the move as mobile emergency services. Over 300 young people are currently learning a job at Bayernwerk; the training quota is thus around nine percent.

Children's library award

The children's library award from Bayernwerk AG is endowed with 5,000 euros each . The winning libraries receive the prize money in the form of a media voucher. It is awarded in cooperation with the Bavarian State Library / State Office for Public Libraries and the Sankt Michaelsbund. It is not possible to apply for the annual award because the winners are selected by an expert jury.

Bavarian Culture Prize

Since 2005, the prize has been awarded every year in autumn to the winners of the culture award in art and science by Bayernwerk AG and the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture, Science and Art. This honors artists in Bavaria for their significant artistic work, as well as graduates and doctoral students from Bavarian universities, universities of applied sciences and state colleges of art. The prize is awarded in four categories (artists, universities, universities of applied science, state universities of the arts) and is endowed with a total of 96,000 euros.

Electricity Museum

The open-air museum Markus Wasmeier Farm and Winter Sports Museum has had an electricity museum, the Lukashof, since spring 2017. Bayernwerk AG acts as a sponsor of this part of the museum.

Citizen energy price

In cooperation with the governments of Upper Franconia , Lower Franconia , Lower Bavaria , Upper Bavaria and Upper Palatinate , the Citizens Energy Prize is awarded by Bayernwerk with a total of 50,000 euros . The Citizens' Energy Prize is awarded to private individuals, associations, schools and other non-commercial groups whose ideas and projects provide an impetus for the energy future in the respective region.

A jury of experts selects the best projects. The jury members are:

  • Representative of the district association of the Bavarian Municipal Association
  • Representative of a university
  • Representative of regional television
  • Representative of the Regensburg Energy Agency (Upper Palatinate only)
  • Representative of the Bayernwerk

The announcement of the winners from the regions mentioned takes place at the end of November and beginning of December each year.

Bayernwerk Natur GmbH

Bayernwerk Natur GmbH, based in Unterschleißheim since July 1, 2014, is a 100% subsidiary of Bayernwerk AG. Bayernwerk Natur GmbH specializes in the construction and operation of systems for heat generation and distribution. With around 100 employees, it operates over 200 decentralized, energy-efficient and regenerative power plants such as district heating supplies, biomass heating plants, biogas and bio-natural gas plants, combined heat and power plants, heat pump systems and pellet heating systems through to gas and steam turbine heating plants, wind turbines and small hydropower plants in Bavaria. Bayernwerk Natur GmbH supplies households, commercial and industrial companies as well as municipalities with heat and other media. The focus of business activities is the planning, construction and operation of combined heat and power (CHP) plants. So-called.
