The Überland-Zentrale Helmstedt AG (ÜZH) was a regional power supply company founded on October 20, 1905, based in Helmstedt, Lower Saxony . She was also active in gas supply , water supply , wastewater treatment and facility management in Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt through associated companies.
Since April 1, 1913, the company has been a 100% subsidiary of Braunschweigische Kohlen-Bergwerke AG (BKB), the majority of which has belonged to the VEBA group since 1986 . As part of the reorganization of the group, the ÜZH merged in 1999 with Energieversorgung Magdeburg AG (EVM), Ferngas Salzgitter AG (FSG), Hannover-Braunschweigische Stromversorgungs AG ( Hastra ) and Landesgasversorgung Niedersachsen AG (Landesgas) to form Avacon AG, which in June 2005 renamed to E.ON Avacon AG .
Immediately supplied the ÜZH customers in the district Helmstedt , Wolfenbüttel , district of Goslar and the independent city Salzgitter with electricity from lignite . In addition, it indirectly supplied customers of Hastra , Nordharzer Kraftwerke (NKW) and Landelektronik GmbH (LandE). The power supply area in south-eastern Lower Saxony thus extended from the Harz Mountains to the Lüneburg Heath .
In the town of Salzgitter , district Ringelheim , a company administration was maintained; The ÜZH renovated the Ringelheim watermill , which in 1898 was the region's first power station.
