The stürmsfs AG (own spelling stürmsfs ag ), headquartered in Goldach is a Swiss trading company in the steel, metal and alternative materials. The catchment area includes Switzerland, Vorarlberg, Tyrol, and southern Germany. The company has a wide range of steel and metal trading products. Stürmsfs employs around 240 people in Goldach, Härkingen, Arnegg and Klaus (AT) and sees itself as the third largest steel trader in Switzerland with CHF 170 million.

history

The company was created on July 1, 2011 through the merger of Stürm AG with the Steel & Metals division of SFS Locher .

Stürm was a fourth generation family company, employed 189 people in 2008 and achieved sales of 114 million Swiss francs in 2007 in the steel and metal sector. The second division, construction and building services, with 79 employees and sales of 80 million francs, was sold in May 2008. The core business of Stürm was the production, processing, flame cutting and sawing as well as the sale of steel in different variations. The company also processes aluminum, copper and other metals. The company was founded in 1835 as the Hediger & Co hardware store and was taken over by Carl Stürm in 1896. In 1936, Carl Otto Stürm succeeded his father. With Carl Felix Stürm, the third Stürm generation took over management of the company in 1961. Under his leadership, Carl Stürm & Co. AG greatly expanded its operating locations and production facilities. At the end of the 1990s, Carl Stürm & Co. AG acquired Stiefel Stahl AG in Wil. In 2001 the two merged to form Stürm AG. After more than 40 years of management, Carl Felix Stürm handed over entrepreneurial responsibility to his son Christof Stürm in 2003. In 2006 the company took over Blech + Profil AG in Zollikon. In May 2008, the company sold its construction and building services division to Miauton SA from western Switzerland. Stürm thus fully concentrated on its core business of steel and metal trading.

The SFS Locher company began in 1928 in the Stadler hardware store in Altstätten , which was run and expanded in the second generation by Adolf Locher . In 2000 the Locher-Hauser steel trading group merged with SFS StahlService to form SFS Locher
