electricity

As an electricity supplier, WWZ supplies over 72,000 customers in ten Zug municipalities and in Hochdorf (LU) with electricity over the 2,200-kilometer power grid. In 2018, a total of 707 GWh of electricity was delivered in the grid area  . In the same year, WWZ sold a total of 832 million kWh of electricity in the partially liberalized Swiss electricity market. The company produces around 4 percent of the electricity sold in seven of its own hydropower plants on the Lorze and with 22 photovoltaic systems in the Zug region; the company buys the rest from regional third-party producers, obtains it through investments and from the market.

WWZ offers its customers different power products to choose from. The standard product will be produced in 2012 from 100% renewable energies (Swiss hydropower), WWZ customers can also obtain electricity from regional sources (small hydropower and / or solar power).

Electromobility

WWZ operates 28 public charging points in the canton of Zug and the municipality of Hochdorf in Lucerne, and since 2018 it has also been the first fast charging station in the region (in Rotkreuz). In 2018, almost 68,000 kWh of regional solar power were refueled at the WWZ charging stations. For the simple electrification of underground parking spaces, WWZ launched an intelligent load management system in 2018: ready12 enables the electrification and smart networking of several parking spaces without expensive expansion of the property connection to the public power grid - including personalized (user-based) charging of the charging current.

Telecom

WWZ supplies over 60 communities in the cantons of Zug, Zurich, Aargau, Lucerne, Schwyz and Bern with telecommunications services via its own fiber optic cable network and partner networks and is one of the leading cable network companies in Switzerland. The almost 3,200 km long WWZ networks are constantly being expanded and offer 500 Mbit / s at each connection. The company sells telecommunications products Quickline Quickline . These include digital cable television , interactive television, and broadband internet , landline and mobile telephony. In 2015, WWZ stopped analog television . The basic encryption for digital cable television was lifted in mid-2012. In total, the WWZ Group supplies over 126,000 connections. It is a member of the leading cable network Quickline and the Digital Cable Group .

The company also operates three natural gas / biogas filling stations in the city of Zug and Affoltern am Albis. By default, the company mixes 5 percent biogas with natural gas; this proportion can also be increased by customers.

Today, WWZ operates a wood heating network in the Zug community of Menzingen, three district heating networks in the Zug community of Cham and the district heating network in Zug's old town. In 2017, a wood heating network was added to supply the village center of the Zug community of Steinhausen. In mid-2017, WWZ started building the Circulago energy network. The aim of the generation project is to supply the city of Zug and Baar-Süd with renewable heating and cooling energy from Lake Zug. In 2018 WWZ launched the Ennetsee heating network. This will one day supply the region of the same name as well as the planned Zug city quarter "Äussere Lorzenallmend" with CO 2 -free waste heat from the Renergia waste incineration plant.

water

WWZ supplies almost 8,000 distribution points with drinking water in the municipalities of Zug, Cham, Hochdorf and Hünenberg as well as in parts of Baar . In addition, other municipalities and municipality areas are regularly supplied with water . In 2018, the company sold 5.87 million m³ of water over its 450-kilometer network, half of which is composed of spring and groundwater . Water sales are stagnating despite population growth.

As of March 2020, attempts are being made to bring the breakdown products of the pesticide chlorothalonil below the permitted limit value. Some communities in the Lucerne Seetal are affected .
