St-Maximin, view of the tower and choir

St-Maximin is the Roman Catholic parish church of Jarny in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in France . The tower of the church dominates the landscape around Jarny. The structure is Monument historique under the numbers PA00106046 and IA00035108.

history

The three-sided closed choir of St-Maximin dates from the 13th century , the adjoining two eastern yokes of the five-bay nave date from the 15th century , which was extended to the west in 1766. The monumental free-standing bell tower was originally a defense tower of the otherwise completely demolished Jarnys Castle and also dates from the 15th century. The tower was badly damaged in World War I and received its representative neo-Gothic crown and dome in 1924.
