The Evangelical Lutheran St. Anne's Church in Grünstädtel is a baroque hall church in the Saxon Ore Mountains.

history

The church was built in 1721–1724 on the site of a previous Romanesque building. During the Catholic period, the Grünstadt chapel, consecrated to St. Anna , was a stopover on a pilgrimage that started in Annaberg .

architecture

The large plastered building has a high slate hipped roof , which is closed on three sides in the east and west. The tower set in the middle of the south side has a square floor plan and an octagonal bell- shaped floor with a pointed helmet covered with dormer windows . Due to lack of money, the tower was not completed until 1872.

inner space

Inside there is an elongated octagonal hall with a flat wooden ceiling and surrounding double galleries. The upper gallery was only added towards the end of the 18th century. Prayer rooms with wooden lattice windows are located throughout the galleries. The sacristy in the southeast has a groin vault and, like the piscina, comes from the east wall of the previous building.

The late Gothic winged altar was created around 1500 under the influence of Peter Breuer and was made into a complete altar in 1996 by combining the shrine, wing and predella . The pulpit altar from 1762 was removed and stored around 1980. In the shrine there is a carved figure of Anna Selbdritt, on one side of which there is a female saint and Catherine, on the other Margaret and another saint. The wings have painted representations of the Annunciation and the carrying of the cross. The predella shows a painting of the Lord's Supper.
