St. Gallus Chapel (Bad Säckingen)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The St. Gallus Chapel in Bad Säckingen was probably built in the 10th century. The church building belonged to the Säckingen women's monastery which was dissolved in 1706 . The name is reminiscent of the connection between Säckingen and St. Gallen . The monk and later bishop of Speyer Balther attended the monastery school in St. Gallen and wrote the life story of St. Fridolin von Säckingen .

The building is now profaned and is used for residential purposes. It is at the end of Fischergasse across from the Gallus Fountain.
