The St. Leonards Chapel in Scheer in the Sigmaringen district is below the Loreto Chapel at the junction on the road to Hitzkofen .

Building history

The builder is unknown.

Perhaps the chapel is related to the in 1468 by Count Eberhardt of Württemberg founded St. Leonhard -Kaplanei, the one at the parish church altar with their own sinecures had. It is mentioned in a document in 1616, at that time the St. Georgs nurse was asked to repair the chapel because it was in poor condition.

Renovations, conversions

A Lourdes grotto was built in the 18th century. In 2008 the Leonhard Chapel was completely renovated. The two figures of saints (Barbara and Katharina) have been reproduced true to the original. All other fixtures have been restored to their original state. The whole chapel was cleaned and the damaged areas repainted.

Worth seeing

Two late Gothic figures, St. Barbara and St. Katharina . However, due to their high artistic value, the two figures were kept in a theft-proof place.
