The Weicheltmühle in Gimmlitztal in the Saxon Eastern Ore Mountains is a technical monument . It was built in 1807 by the Reichenau farmer Friedrich Gotthelf Weichelt in the Gimmlitztal. In addition to three hectares of land, a grinder and an oven were the economic basis for future generations.

history

By the official captain in Frauenstein promised before the mill construction "Conzession to Umtrieb the mill" and the sale of white bakery on the Frauensteiner market is finally granted 1811th Friedrich Christian Weichelt ran the mill from 1846 to 1890. He had outbuildings erected, probably also a barn and the lower Weicheltmühle. Christian's son, Friedrich Gotthelf Weichelt, was supposed to take over the mill, but died at the age of 36. Ehrgott Schröter acquired the mill in 1898, had the grinder removed and converted into an oil mill with a stamping mechanism.

The renovation was not continued due to Schröter's death. In 1901 the mill returned to the possession of the Weichelt family through Heinrich Weichelt's marriage with Schröter's daughter, who was nine years older. From now on, the feed tamping will be the main application of the mill. A roller mill makes grain processing more efficient. Konrad Weichelt, a timber and firewood dealer, became the owner of the mill in 1928. His father ran it until 1954. Konrad did not give up the business until he was 72 years old. He ensures that the mill is listed as a historical monument in 1977 . In 1958 his son Heinz Weichelt takes over the mill and in 1979 hands it over to the Reichenau community . In 1999 the mill became the property of the Bretschneider family and from then on it was managed as a restaurant, guesthouse and technical monument. In 2007 the mill celebrated its 200th anniversary. After Mühlentag 2018 there are flyers hanging at numerous points in the Gimmlitztal and on the "Konrad-Weichelt-Wanderweg", which refer to the permanent closure of the Weicheltmühle as a restaurant and guesthouse;

According to the website and telephone information provided by the owner, the technical monument can only be viewed after prior registration by closed groups.

In 2011, a copy of the royal Saxon half- milestone from the post route Alte Freiberg-Teplitzer Poststrasse was set up at the Weicheltmühle parking lot and the heavily weathered original from Sandberg was stored in the Reichenau municipal office.
