St. Stephen's Order (Tuscany)

The Order of St. Stephen , named after St. Stephen , is a Tuscan order that was donated by Grand Duke Cosimo of Medici to commemorate the battle he won against France . Victory and foundation day fell on August 2, 1554. The statutes of the military order were later adopted by Grand Duke Ferdinand III. renewed on December 22nd, 1817.

Order decoration

This highest Tuscan order has a red enameled Maltese cross as decoration . It is raised by an open bow crown and lilies are placed in the cross corners .
