The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Andreas is located in the Weilar community in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .

history

Most of the churches in this area have an eventful history. This is particularly important, because according to church accounts the church was built in 1616, but in 1722 it was mentioned that the church was in disrepair. It had to be supported inside and out. In 1740 this dilapidated church was demolished and in 1745 the new building was consecrated again.

On July 3, 1761, the new building burned down completely due to a lightning strike. The chronicle of the place burned with it. The building was rebuilt from 1763 to 1766.

During the GDR dictatorship, little was done to preserve the church. In 1987 it was clear that the house had to be thoroughly repaired. That happened then to 1990. From the 740 people comprehensive parish 100,205.73 were alone DM applied.
