St. Anna (Pflaumheim)
The St. Anna Chapel (in dialect Anneheisje ) is a field chapel near Pflaumheim ( Großostheim ) in Bavaria .
location
The corridor chapel, built in its current form in 1844/45, is located in a secluded location about 800 m east of the center of Pflaumheim. The location at an altitude of 192 m above sea level. NN on a hill dominates Pflaumheim by 30 meters and is visible from afar, which suggests its former function as a place of pilgrimage or for processions.
history
The listed St. Anna Chapel, built in the neo-Gothic style, replaces a medieval predecessor building which was dated to the year 1503 and is located in roughly the same place. Whose underground remains are designated as a ground monument .
The altarpiece ( Anna with Maria ) was designed in 1978 by the amateur artist Edgar Hock . The chapel was restored in 1992 and 2004.
Trivia
The Bavarian Crown Prince and later King Ludwig I is said to have stayed at the Anna Chapel every time he was in Aschaffenburg to enjoy the panoramic view.
