Pflaumheim is a district of the Großostheim market in the Bavarian district of Aschaffenburg .

geography

The place is at 147  m above sea level. NN on Kreisstraße 3 between Großostheim and Wenigumstadt in Bachgau . The Pflaumbach flows through Pflaumheim .

history

Pflaumheim and the Pflaumgau were first mentioned in the tradition of the Lorsch and Fulda monasteries in 794 . Archaeological sources show, however, that the district, like the neighboring villages, was settled much earlier. During excavations in the place, objects of the material culture from the provincial Roman era or the Merovingian era were found, and building remains were also discovered. In the Pflaumheim Forest, burial mounds from the Bronze Age ( Urnfield Age and Hallstatt Age ) are documented, which were illegally excavated by Kommerzienrat Lang from Würzburg in 1897/98. As a result, he was the first (documented) grave robber in Bavaria to be officially prohibited from digging, but this did not prevent him from carrying out further excavations.

In 1862 the district office of Obernburg was formed, on whose administrative area Pflaumheim was located. As everywhere in the German Reich , the term district was introduced in 1939. Pflaumheim was now one of the 35 municipalities in the district of Obernburg am Main (license plate OBB ). When the district of Obernburg was dissolved, Pflaumheim became part of the newly formed district of Aschaffenburg (license plate AB ) in 1972 .

On May 1, 1978, the previously independent community was incorporated into Großostheim. In 1994 the 1200th anniversary of Pflaumheim was celebrated.

church

Ecclesiastically, Pflaumheim was part of the parish of St. Peter and Paul in Großostheim. It was not until 1923 that Pflaumheim, with its St. Luzia Church, became an independent parish.

Infrastructure

At the entrance to Pflaumheim, on the ground of the former sand pit , the new fire station was built between 1988 and 1990 , which serves as a common location for the fire departments from Großostheim, Ringheim and Pflaumheim. In November 2017, the foundation stone for an extension was laid, with which the fire station is to be expanded into a center for regional fire protection and disaster control in the Aschaffenburg district.
