Interior of the church

The parish church of St. Anton is a Catholic parish church in Passau .

It stands on Neuburger Strasse in the south of Passau and is visible from afar because of its elevated position. The Munich architect Johann Baptist Schott built the church from 1908 to 1910 in the neo-baroque style. The St. Anton branch was built in 1910. In 1913 it was elevated to the status of a city parish.

In 1969, the neo-baroque furnishings were largely removed. The red marble baptismal font from Passau's master stonemason Josef Kagleder from 1914 was preserved. The altarpieces and the Way of the Cross date from 1922. They were made by Gebhard Fugel .

From 1998 to 1999 the interior of the church was largely redesigned. The pews were arranged in an elliptical shape around the ambo and the people's altar , which are in the focal points of the ellipse. At the apex of the large main axis are the Easter candle with the baptismal font in the west and the priest's seat in front of the rebuilt high altar in the east. The modern church furnishings come from Friedrich Koller.

On September 1, 2016, vandalism and attempted arson broke out in the church .
