history

In the 9th century a small chapel was built in Remsede in honor of Antonius the Great . In the middle of the 14th century, the chapel became the destination of the Remseder pilgrimage . The parish was a branch church of the St. Marien Church in Bad Laer . On August 15, 1851, the company became independent. In 1932 the chapel was essentially built over and thus enlarged. The choir and essential parts of the interior are of an older date. The campanile was added in 1966. The oldest figure is the patron saint of the church, St. Anthony in the high altar. It dates from the 16th century. All other figures: Mary's Altar, the Sorrowful Mother and the Suffering Christ are kept in the Baroque style and come from the time after the Thirty Years War .
