St. Barbara in Neuhütten

St. Barbara is a Catholic church in Wüstenrot - Neuhütten .

history

After the barrack church had been an emergency church in Neuhütten from 1951 , there were plans to build a new church on site from 1963. In 1964 the parish bought a plot of land near the cemetery for almost DM 20,000. A church opted for a new type Reutter 1 in prefabricated construction . This type of building, designed by the architect Gerold Reutter from Wernau, was used from 1964 to 1975 in a total of 17 new churches in the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart .

The planned construction costs amounted to 345,000 DM, of which 200,000 DM came as a grant from the diocese. The rest was done through donations and in personal contribution. The church was built from May 1969 to the summer of 1970. The single-nave church with a gable roof and bell ridge was consecrated to St. Barbara on July 18, 1970 by Auxiliary Bishop Wilhelm Sedlmeier . The patronage of the patron saint of miners and ironworkers refers to the old glass-blowing tradition in Neuhütten. In 1990/91 the parish in Neuhütten was changed from Mainhardt to Affaltrach .
