St. Bartholomew

St. Bartholomäus in Hörgersdorf in the district of Erding ( Upper Bavaria ) is a church with Rococo furnishings.

Along with St. Mary's Birth (Eschlbach) and St. John the Baptist (Oppolding), it is one of the three well-known Rococo churches in the Erding district. All three are less than five kilometers apart.

Building

The church was built around 1720 by Anton Kogler as a hall church with a strongly retracted apse.

The church stands on a steeply sloping height to the west. The difficult terrain results from the unusual position of the tower, which faces east instead of the usual west. The tower, which ends with an onion dome, is structured by pilasters .

Furnishing

Around 1760 the rococo furnishings were added, designed by the well-known team of artists Johann Anton Pader , Matthias Fackler and Christian Jorhan the Elder .

In 2008 the church was extensively renovated.
