St. Cyriakus (Grimlinghausen)
St. Cyriakus is the Roman Catholic parish church of Grimlinghausen , a district of Neuss in the Rhine district of Neuss .
history
A chapel consecrated to St. Cyriacus was initially located in Quinheim, which is documented in 1173. In 1250 it was called the parish . The town of Quinheim disappeared due to a relocation of the Rhine bed and the parish had to be relocated to Grimlinghausen around 1417. In 1475 troops of Charles the Bold destroyed the church in the course of the siege of Neuss. Already in 1479 a pastor was named at the nova ecclesia , the new church. The right of collation over the church belonged to the Neuss Quirinus pin . In 1866/67 the old church was replaced by a single-nave neo-Gothic building that was badly damaged in the Second World War. During the reconstruction, the old choir was retained and the new central nave was widened from eight to 18 meters. The old church tower, which was previously in front of the church, was included in the new building and today has the character of a roof turret.
