St. Engelbert (Hattingen-Niederbonsfeld)
The St. Engelbert Church is a Roman Catholic church building in Hattingen - Niederbonsfeld . The church was built from 1899 to 1900. It was built from Ruhr sandstone .
history
The church, originally built as an emergency church, is located on the Kressenberg and is in the Deilbachtal. The interior is characterized by the unclad trusses of the wooden roof structure. The tower was built in 1909.
On August 1, 1899, construction of the rectory began. The foundation stone of the church was laid on March 25, 1900, the benediction followed on October 28, 1900, and the church building was consecrated on November 7, 1900. The bell tower received the first two bells in May 1931, and another was added in 1939. The organ has about 700 pipes on 12 registers. In the course of the last major renovation from 1998 to 1999, three lead-glazed choir windows were professionally revised.
On November 18, 1985, the church was placed under monument protection.
