Church of St. Franziskus in Steufzgen

The catholic parish church St. Franziskus is a church building consecrated to St. Francis of Assisi in Steufzgen , a district of Kempten (Allgäu) .

history

The Trinity Chapel in Steufzgen was no longer sufficient for all believers after the housing construction work from the end of the 1960s. The responsible diocese therefore made preparations for the St. Francis parish center. The new parish in Steufzgen thus emerged from the parish of St. Anton .

The first makeshift church was consecrated in 1968. Eight years later the construction of the new church began. After the topping-out ceremony in 1977, the municipality decided to completely do without a bell tower with a bell. Auxiliary Bishop Rudolf Schmid consecrated the church and the community center in October 1978.
