St. Gallus

The Protestant village church of St. Gallus is located in the municipality of Tastungen in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia .

history

In 1238 the pastor's office was mentioned in touches . According to this, there was already a church in the village at that time .

The construction of a new church is reported in 1724. The new village church was financed mainly through donations from the faithful. The parish financed the remaining amount through a loan . The city of Duderstadt is said to have played a role in the financing . Nothing has been handed down about the construction work.

In 1723 the new building was completed. In the course of the interior work, the organ was installed in 1730 by the Creutzburg organ builder from Duderstadt. The organ, which can still be played today, is the oldest organ in the region.

Over the years the village church has been restored several times. Everything is still as it was originally.
