Tastungen is a municipality in the administrative community of Lindenberg / Eichsfeld in the Thuringian district of Eichsfeld .

Tastungen is located about six kilometers northwest of Worbis and 14 kilometers northeast of Heilbad Heiligenstadt at the northwestern foot of the Ohm Mountains . The place is on the state road 2017, which connects to the federal road 247 south of the place and leads to the north of Duderstadt .

The district extends from the Hahletal to the Trogberg (502.9 m), the northwestern pillar of the Ohm Mountains. To the west is the Glockengraben reservoir .

Neighboring towns are Wehnde in the north, Ferna in the south and Teistungen in the west.

history

Tastungen was first mentioned in a document in 1090. The Knights of Tastungen had a fortified mansion, which they later converted into a castle. The castle and the remains of the fortifications are immortalized in a picture in the Bodenstein camp register. In 1623 during the Thirty Years War , Tastungen was completely destroyed. The St. Gallus Church was built between 1725 and 1727. Landlord was Kurmainz until 1802 , and church, landlord and court lord was the von Wintzingerode family . From 1802 to 1807 the place became Prussian and then became part of the Kingdom of Westphalia . From 1815 to 1945 it was part of the Prussian province of Saxony . 1945 to 1949 the place occupied by the US Army on April 10, 1945 was part of the Soviet occupation zone and from 1949 part of the GDR . From 1961 until the turnaround and reunification in 1989/1990, Tastungen was affected by the closure of the nearby inner-German border. Since 1990 the place belongs to the re-established state of Thuringia.

The coat of arms of the municipality of Tastungen shows a green linden tree growing out of a wall in gold , this should indicate the walled village linden of Tastungen. The tree is covered with a silver shield with a sloping poker hook inside, which stands for the noble family of those "von Wintzingerode". This family had a major influence on the town's property and the history of palpations.
