history

The first documentary mention goes back to a deed of donation from Kirchberg from 1146 . Two older mentions, around 724 at the time of Bonifatius (as Heiten ) and around 950, cannot be documented. Culture and sights

In Heuthen there is a branch church of the parish of St. Cosmas and Damian in Geisleden , St. Nikolaus (built 1745–1749). It is considered to be one of the most beautiful baroque village churches in Eichsfeld. Every year in the Advent season there is a nativity scene exhibition with over 400 images.

In the Middle Ages, the deserted area of Werdingshausen stretched along the boundary to the eastern neighboring town of Kefferhausen , and the pilgrimage chapel located there testifies to its existence today. From 1910 the path to the chapel was upgraded to an avenue with around 100 rare Swedish whitebeam trees . This is now considered a natural monument .
