Main street in Haynrode

Haynrode is a municipality in the eichsfeld-wipperaue in Thuringia Eichsfeld . Haynrode is one of the few villages in the Eichsfeld district that does not belong to the historic Eichsfeld .

history

Middle Ages and Modern Times

The place Haynrode was first mentioned in 1495 as Heigenrode and 1506 as Heygenrode . Other sources speak of a first verifiable mention in 1515. However, the proximity of the place to the Hasenburg and Harburg suggest that the village was founded earlier. In 1124, for example, Buchardus de Asenberg signed the Herdigrot or Herdigrode estate near the Harburg to the Benedictine monastery of Gerode .

On May 1, 1515 Rudolf von Bültzingslöwen , captain of Mühlhausen , his brother Heinrich and their cousin Rudolf von Bültzingslöwen were enfeoffed by Count Ernst von Hohnstein with the large district of Haynrode. They build the four Haynröder manors , the Oberhof, Mittelhof, Hinterhof and Unterhof and the Church of St. Anna .

The structure of the middle courtyard founded by Rudolf and Heinrich can still be seen today. Here is a manor house, which the villagers call the “stone house” and which has been preserved in its complex despite the burned down upper floors.

The two brothers also built the backyard in the northern part of the village. Cousin Rudolf became the owner of the Oberhof in Haynrode, which was east of Kirchgasse and burned down in the 18th century. Caspar von Bültzingslöwen is named as the builder of the lower courtyard .

The story of Haynrode is closely linked to the family of the von Bültzingslöwen . From 1381 they were pledges of Harburg and Haynrode, including all forests and goods, and lived in Haynrode after they were destroyed in the Peasants' War in 1525.

Since the Bültzingslöwen also had spiritual authority, and that long before the Reformation , they were without a doubt also the founders of the Haynrode church. The laying of the foundation stone for the first church should go back to the time of court education. In the course of the Reformation, Haynrode became Protestant under the influence of the Bültzing lions.

In 1632 the Counts of Schwarzburg and Stolberg received Haynrode, including all rights of use, back after the Bültzingslöwen had received it as a fief from the Hohenstein Counts. 50 years later, in 1682, the plague raged in Haynrode, killing 300 residents.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, home weaving was an important industry for Haynrode.

During the Second World War had since 1940, more than 40 men and women from Poland and the Ukraine on the estate Upper mill, the manor those of Klüchtzner and various farmers forced labor afford. Polish slave laborers were flogged for attending Sunday services in the village.

Salmerode desert

Near Haynrode, at the west foot of the Hasenburg, near the Salmeröder mill there , there was another medieval settlement, the village of Salmerode , which was transferred to the Gerode monastery on February 2, 1293 .

To the south of the Salmeröder mill and the Salmerode desert, nature has formed a natural bridge by leaching out gypsum. Two old linden trees mark this place. In the vicinity one found ceramics decorated with wavy bands and spherical floor ware . There were prehistoric finds north of the desert in Osterfeld and west of the large pond.

By 1515 already deserted , a decade-long dispute arose between the landlords of Bültzingslöwen and their neighbors - Count Ernst von Hohnstein . Whether this small settlement died out in a plague epidemic could never be determined.

Culture and sights

church

St. Anna Church 1940

So-called stone house in Haynrode
Tanzlinde on the Haynröder Anger.

The Protestant parish church of St. Anna , which still exists and is in use today, was built in 1590 by Hans Killian from Sollstedt , probably using demolished parts of the Harburg , and was originally consecrated to St. Boniface. Almost congruent with the already named arched doors of the stone house, there is a lancet arch entrance door on the nave of the local church. The following inscription can be read there:

ANNO DOMINI 1590
WHO TRUST GOD
PROBABLY BOWED
ZV SOLSTATT
HANS KILLIAN

The renaissance church is optically defined by epochal overlaps of baroque and classicism. Within the simple hall church, in particular the woodwork with the carved round Taustab profile shows typical Renaissance forms.

In the village church of Haynrode, a knight epitaph with symbols, a coat of arms and the year "1526" remind of Bültzingslöwen's patronage. In the church tower there is a bell from the aforementioned great time when they were still sitting in Harburg. The circular bell inscription reads:

ANNO THU. 1502 hoc opus completum per Paulum
Maes. Help God advise Mary

In 1690, the construction of the roof was changed to incorporate a carved pulpit altar. The former rafter roof construction was destroyed in order to pull in a wooden barrel instead of the old wooden beam ceiling. The tower top, a so-called Eichsfeld hood, is also dated to the year 1690.

In the interior there are also double galleries on three sides, which presumably date from 1858 and through which you can get to the organ.

Village museum

You can find out more about house weaving in the village museum in Hagenstrasse, which is one of the most beautiful in Eichsfeld. It houses many testimonies from the past, including remnants of the village school, built in 1913, on the village's living and working conditions. Information and relics about the history of the village and the surrounding area are also shown. The museum is looked after by the citizens and the local history association of the village.

More buildings

  • Manor house ( stone house ): Individual parts of the nave date from the end of the 16th century. Two high-set representative arched doors on the western outer wall can be assigned to the late Gothic era. This building was used as a grocery store in GDR times. Today it is regularly open to visitors at Siedlerstraße 11 on the day of the open monument, but some areas are still inaccessible due to decay. The stone house was renovated in 2016 with funds from the EAFRD .
  • Remains of the Hasenburg and Harburg
  • In the middle of the village of Haynrode is the Anger with the over 300 year old Angerlinde.

Club life

The Haynrode volunteer fire brigade celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2013. There is also the SV Haynrode sports club.

With Griwe GmbH, a large automotive supplier for metal forming technology is located on the northeastern edge of Haynrode. An international forwarding company is directly adjacent to this large company.
