Ferna is between Ohmgebirge and Hahlethal .

history

Ferna was first mentioned on July 19, 1090. From the 16th to the 19th century Ferna was under the Western Hagens court of Berlingerode. From 1815 to 1945 the community belonged to the Prussian province of Saxony . From 1945 it was part of the Soviet occupation zone, from 1949 the GDR . From 1961 until the turnaround and reunification in 1989/1990, Ferna was affected by the closure of the nearby inner-German border. Since 1990 the place belongs to the re-established state of Thuringia.

The honorary mayor Erich Oberkersch (CDU) was elected in 2004 and re-elected in 2010 and 2016.

traffic

The B 247 and the L 2017 run through Ferna . A bypass is planned, but not in sight.

Ferna is located on the now disused Untereichsfeldbahn from Wulften via Duderstadt , Teistungen and Worbis to Leinefelde . That is why Bahnhofstrasse still exists today .

Attractions

Ferna Church
  • The patronage church of John the Baptist, rebuilt in 1736, belongs to the Catholic parish of St. Andreas Teistungen.
