history

After the Second World War , Catholic refugees also came to the largely Protestant district of Lüchow-Dannenberg. From 1947 catholic services took place in Clenze, initially in a sheepfold converted into an emergency church .

In 1960, the church building plot, located around 31 meters above sea level , was acquired and the foundation stone was laid on June 11, 1961. The architect was Hans Hübscher from Wolfsburg , the artistic design of the interior was done by Claus Kilian . On April 1, 1962, took place consecration of the church by Bishop Heinrich Maria Janssen . From January 1, 1963, St. Johannes Maria Vianney was a separate parish , previously Clenze belonged to the parish of St. Agnes in Lüchow, where she returned on November 1, 2006 as part of the parish mergers of the Diocese of Hildesheim. In 2009, Bishop Norbert Trelle decided to close the church due to the lack of priests and finances in the diocese, the decline in population in Wendland and heating costs.

On June 30, 2012, Bishop Trelle profaned it . The building was bought by a parishioner. In 2013 the organ came to a Protestant church in Brandenburg , and other parts of the inventory went to parishes in the Ukraine .
