The St. Josef Church is a Catholic church in the Kumreut district of the Röhrnbach market in the Bavarian district of Freyung-Grafenau .

Building description and history

After the desire of the Kumreut residents to have their own place of worship in the village, a first request was made in October 1900 to be able to build the church. For this purpose, a church building association was founded in the village as early as 1887. On December 7, 1904, permission to build was given.

The foundation stone was laid on July 13 of the following year. Josef Schott from Munich could be won as a master builder. A year later, the church, built in the neo-Romanesque - Gothic style, was finished and the first Kumreuter pastor arrived with the exposition of Josef Breit. A year later, Alois Fisch was the first Kumreuter pastor in office. The church bells were consecrated on December 18, 1906. The solemn consecration of the church took place on October 15, 1910. The inauguration of the cemetery directly next to the church took place in August 1913. In February 1921, Kumreut was made an independent parish.

Two of the three bells had to be handed in for war purposes in 1942, and two new bells could be purchased in 1949.

The church underwent extensive renovations in 1954, 1967, 1974–1975 and 2000.
