St. Joseph Church in July 2013

The Sankt Joseph Church is a Catholic church in the Brandenburg town of Luckenwalde .

It is a neo-Gothic octagonal building with a double tower facade that was built in 1913/14 .

After the cloth makers' room used by the Catholic community for church services until 1833 had become too small, a small chapel was built in Zinnaer Straße. However, this soon no longer offered enough space and so the rectory was built in 1908/1909 in Lindenallee, and five years later the St. Joseph Church next to it. The chapel on Zinnaer Strasse was destroyed in 1945.

In 1957, the head teacher Bernhard Kadenbach, the father of the biochemist Bernhard Kadenbach , carved a statue of the Virgin Mary, according to the shape of which the Marien altar was created.

In the mid-1990s, new wooden windows were installed, but age and war damage was not completely repaired. A larger subsidized renovation took place in 2014 on the 100th anniversary. The tower and portal, roof and windows were renovated and repaired in a monument-worthy way. It also turned out that the church is even five meters higher than it was previously documented.
