St. Korbinian in Schwaig

The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Korbinian in Schwaig (municipality of Oberding) is the only church in the entire district of Erding that is consecrated to the diocese patron St. Korbinian . It belongs to the parish association Aufkirchen in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising .

history

The plans for the neo-Romanesque church come from the Munich architect Johann Baptist Schott . Construction began on April 15, 1903, and was consecrated on June 25, 1905 by Munich Archbishop Franz Joseph von Stein . Due to the inclusion of the old chapel as a sacristy, it was not, as usual, facing east.

The saddle tower with its stepped gables stands on the northwest side of the church building. The presbytery was originally decorated by Martin Irl from Erding with paintings in the Nazarene style , which were later painted over.
