St. Laurentius (Enkhausen)
The Catholic parish church of St. Laurentius is a listed church building in Enkhausen , a district of Sundern , in the Hochsauerlandkreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).
History and architecture
The neo-Gothic rectangular building consists of a three-bay hall, two eastern hall bays and the 5/8 apse , which is as wide as the central nave . It was built by Arnold Güldenpfennig from 1895 to 1896 . The Romanesque west tower made of quarry stone , which was raised by one storey and a high pointed helmet, was included. The new building was made of different stone materials. The walls are structured by tracery windows, the hall bays are gabled like a transept. In the interior, rib vaults rest on round pillars and three-quarter-round wall templates. The closed neo-Gothic painting is extraordinary.
Furnishing
- The altars, the pulpit , the stalls and the statues of saints standing on consoles, as well as the reliefs of the Cross, date from the time the church was built.
- The one on the west gallery standing organ was in 1868 by August Randebrock established.
- The font in the shape of a cup is probably from the 15th or 16th century.
