St. Magdalen

St. Magdalen is a district of Villach in Carinthia , Austria and is located in the east of the city. There are six small lakes to the north of the village. The place is near the Drava .

St. Magdalen is flat in the east of Villach between the Seebach and the south autobahn .

There are six lakes north of Magdalen, some of which are not suitable for bathing and are boggy.

  • the Magdalensee , the largest and most important lake. There is a public bath here.

  • the Fleetsee (water-filled dead ice hole )
  • the Grünsee (untouched water)
  • the Silver Lake
  • the Silbersee (bathing lake)

Economy and Infrastructure

There is a post office in St. Magdalen . A train station is planned as part of the new construction of the Villach – Klagenfurt railway line .

The Technology Park Villach has been located on the former site of the pulp mill since 2005 . This currently consists of four existing office towers and includes a university of applied sciences , offices and a café. In addition to the technology park , there is also a district heating power plant from KELAG , the main distribution center of the post office for Carinthia and papyrus paper processing for Villach.

In St. Magdalen there is a sports field with a sports center and a soccer field.

The Drau flows through the village, followed by the Drau cycle path .
