Chapel of St. Maria in Hirschfelden

The St. Maria chapel in Hirschfelden was built in 1731. The small church was donated by Franziska von Bubenhofen, the abbess of the Edelstetter monastery at the time . The chapel is the only building in the hamlet to the east of the road leading through the village.

The exterior of the building is characterized by the roof turret closed with an onion hood and a sign . The neo-baroque ceiling fresco inside shows the coronation of Mary by the Trinity . The simple wooden altar dates from the first half of the 19th century. The altar is characterized by three figures - a Mother of God with child, Johannes Evangelist and Johannes Baptist - which were created in the 17th century and are attributed to Christoph Rodt . The three figures come from the Johannes altar of the Edelstetter collegiate church and came to Hirschfelden when the monastery and the monastery church were rebuilt in the Baroque style around 1700 .
