The Church of St. Maria Königin is a Catholic parish church on Goethestrasse in Cologne-Marienburg .

architecture

The red brick building with masonry facade was built by Dominikus Böhm from 1952 to 1954 , the square tower was added in 1959/60 by Gottfried Böhm . A glass baptistery is attached to the south of the church and is connected to the church by a glass corridor in the third of the south wall near the choir. In the center of the chapel is a baptismal font by Hans Rheindorf .

The building, which is square in plan, is spanned by a tent roof resting on four slender iron supports. The main altar stands in front of a shallow niche in the west wall. The south wall is completely glazed and opens the church to the south park . On the north side is the sacristy and a small aisle, on the singing gallery above is the organ.

The east wall is broken through by nine smaller windows that still come from the emergency church , a neighboring villa, which today houses the rectory, and is divided into seven fields. It was created according to designs by Dominikus Böhm and Heinz Bienefeld , the pictorial symbols are based on the linguistic images of the Lauretanian litany .
