St. Mary's Church

The Church of St. Marien is a Roman Catholic church in the city of Remscheid in North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

At the instigation of the church building association founded in 1905, the church was built in 1929–1930 according to the plans of the Düsseldorf architects Tietmann & Haake . The inauguration took place on June 29, 1930.

The church was not an independent parish until November 1, 1951, but belonged to the parish of St. Suitbertus . Today the church belongs again to the parish of St. Suitbertus in the Remscheid deanery in the Archdiocese of Cologne . On January 1, 2011, the formerly independent parishes of St. Engelbert, St. Marien, St. Suitbertus and St. Josef merged to form the parish of St. Suitbertus.

window

The central picture window in the chancel Maria Queen of Peace was created by Wilhelm Pütz around 1935. Winfried Heinrichs designed the other windows in 1970.

organ

The organ was built by the organ builder Kreienbrink (Osnabrück). The instrument has 18 stops on two manuals and a pedal . The actions are mechanical.
