St. Martin (Piesenkofen)

St. Martin is a listed Roman Catholic side church at Herzog-Albrecht-Straße 18 in Piesenkofen (part of the municipality of Obertraubling ) in the district of Regensburg ( Bavaria ).

Today the branch church belongs to the parish of St. Georg Obertraubling . The church was probably owned by the von Pysenchoven family in the 11th or 12th century. Until the secularization , the church belonged to the Obermünster Abbey .

The church is a hall building with a retracted choir and roof turrets with an onion dome. The core of the nave dates from the 11th-12th centuries. Century. The choir was built in the 18th century after the apse and old archway were demolished. The cemetery wall probably goes back to the 18th century. In 1978/79 the church was renovated.

The high altar in rococo style contains an altar sheet by Martin Speer from 1751. At the right end of the choir arch there is a late Gothic crucifixion group from around 1500. On the left side of the choir arch there is a late Gothic depiction of Bishop Martin from 1500. The Way of the Cross comes from the old parish church Obertraubling, a predecessor of today's parish church St. Georg. The copper-clad roof turret with a baroque dome houses two small bells (weight: 40 and 30 kg, outer diameter: 55 and 45 cm).
