Piesenkofen (Obertraubling)

Piesenkofen is a part of the municipality with 748 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011) in the municipality of Obertraubling in the district of Regensburg in Bavaria .

The place is traversed by the Litzelbach .

history

The discovery of an undamaged, strong stone ax in Piesenkofen indicates that the area was settled in the Stone Age .

In numerous excavations in 2011 and 2013, a 5000-year-old house, a moat from the Neolithic Cham culture and a bell- shaped grave were discovered in the Piesenkofen West III building area .

The first written mention of the village comes from 1135.

Buildings

  • Catholic Church of St. Martin : Some of the structure dates from the 12th or 13th century. The church was probably built by the noble family of Pysenchovens. The high altar in rococo style has an altar sheet by Martin Speer (1751).
