St. Matthew (Lindenau)
The listed Lutheran village church of St. Matthew is in the district Lindenau the city Heldburg in Hildburghausen in Thuringia .
Before 1427 the village belonged to the parish of Heldburg . A clergyman for the place was first mentioned in the same year, from which it is concluded that there was also a church around this time. From the 15th century onwards one speaks of an independent parish in the village. The old church, consecrated to the Evangelist Matthew , which stood next to the old school, had a bell from 1490. It also served as a fortified church and was surrounded by gaden . In the course of the Reformation , the people of Lindau joined the evangelical confession in 1528/29.
The organ, the builder of which is not certain, probably dates from the 1890s.
