St. Michael (Bollendorf)
St. Michael is a Catholic parish church in Bollendorf .
The church was built in the 1830s according to plans by the Trier city architect Johann Georg Wolff . The classicistic columnar altar, the baptismal font, the stalls and the stained glass windows on the left, northern side date from the time of origin . The high altar includes figures of St. Nicholas and St. James the Elder (major).
The church is a five-axis hall building with large arched windows and a two-part portal in a flat niche . The buttresses are drawn inwards and support round half-columns. From 1966 to 1968 a wooden ceiling was installed to replace the old ridge vault . This had to be removed for static reasons.
The church stands roughly parallel to the Sauer on the slope; the tower is on the east side.
It is located on one of the Way of St. James in the Rhineland.
