St. Michael is the Roman Catholic parish church of Kreenheinstetten , a district of Leibertingen in the Sigmaringen district .

history

The parish church of St. Michael was built between 1778 and 1782 in a transition style from late baroque to classicism according to plans by the Fürstenberg court architect Franz Joseph Salzmann . The hall church has a choir with a 3/4 end and a box above the sacristy. The massive north tower in the basement, however, still comes from a late Romanesque predecessor church from the 13th century, only it survived the fire of 1445. The baptismal font, above which the famous imperial court preacher in Vienna Abraham a Sancta Clara on 3 July 1644 was baptized as Hans Ulrich Megerle.

The interior of the sacred building shows neo-baroque ceiling frescoes by Linus Mayer from 1928. The baroque high altar (sacrament altar) with carvings from 1721/1722 comes from the workshop of the Villingen carver Joseph Anton Schupp and was taken over in 1958 by the Schwenningen parish church. The rococo side altars from 1772 were created by Christian Sieger . The northern side altar has a main leaf with a Christmas scene from 1772 by the painter Anton Korb . The southern side altar shows a representation of Saint Arbogast, a work by the painter Wendelin Moosbrugger . Five late Gothic figures from the Weckmann workshop in Ulm around 1505 have been preserved from the former high altar : The Madonna, a figure of Mary on the north wall of the nave, and the four Saints Johannes, Sebastian, Wendelin and Michael in the chancel. The rococo pulpit was created around 1750 by the carpenter Matthäus Bäus . The church tower, the parish roof and the stations of the cross in the church are in need of renovation. The church is dedicated to Saint Michael .
