St. Michael is a Roman Catholic church in Bergheim - Hüchelhoven ( Rhein-Erft-Kreis ) in North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

A parish church in Hüchelhoven was first mentioned in 1165 when it was transferred to the cathedral provost by Archbishop Rainald von Dassel of Cologne . The church was also mentioned in the Liber valoris around 1300. The pastor's post was occupied by the Cologne cathedral provosts until secularization.

According to an inscription above the portal, the late Gothic tower was completed in 1554. The tower shows the alternation of tuff and brick bands typical for the region, such as Alt St. Martinus in Stommeln or St. Martinus in Nettesheim . The nave, a simple brick building with a polygonal choir closure, was built in 1789. In the 1870s, the nave received neo-Gothic window tracery .
