St. Martinus (Nettesheim)
St. Martinus is the Roman Catholic church in Nettesheim , a district of Rommerskirchen in the Rhine district of Neuss .
history
Around 1100 there was a Fronhof of the St. Kunibert Monastery in Cologne , to which St. Martinus probably belonged as a separate church . In 1195 the church was named as a parish church. The basement of today's west tower was built in the 12th century. During the siege of Neuss in 1474/75 the church was badly damaged. The nave was built in the late Gothic style in 1515 with the alternation of tuff and brick typical of the region, such as St. Cosmas and Damian in Glesch or St. Remigius in Bergheim .
In 1858 the choir of the church was closed and the nave was extended by three neo-Gothic yokes and a new choir room. In 1884 the western late Gothic yokes were raised to the height of the extension. The tower was also raised.
