Jörg Ehlenbröker

Jörg Ehlenbröker (* 1961 in Schötmar ) is a German author of bird books with a focus on parrot birds . He publishes regularly in bird magazines such as Parrot , Feathered World or the AZ bird information .

Professional background

He started keeping and breeding birds at an early age . After the finches , soft-eaters, parakeets and some other animal species were kept and bred, specialization in parakeets soon followed.

Since 1977 he has been a member of the Association for Species Protection, Bird Keeping and Aviculture (AZ) and from 1978 to 1996 was a member of the board of the AZ branch in Bad Salzuflen . From 1986 until today he has been active in various functions on the board of the AZ regional group Ostwestfalen-Lippe , u. a. since 1993 as deputy committee delegate of AZ - AGZ and from 2007 to 2016 as state group spokesman.

He was a co-initiator, founding member and later 13 years spokesman for the Loris , Bat and Fig Parrots Interest Group (IG) founded in 1988 .

After serving as the acting spokesman for AZ - AGZ IG Neophema Nord since August 2014 , he has been elected deputy of this IG since March 2016. Furthermore, in the area of AZ-AGZ the coordinator of the working group neophemas ( grass parakeets ).

For several years he was on the AZ's economic advisory board. In September 2015 he was assigned the duties of AZ press officer - appointed for the first time in AZ history - by the AZ board and was elected AZ vice-president on April 17, 2016 at the AZ general meeting in Marienfeld.

For this and other activities in the AZ he was awarded the AZ - badges of honor in bronze, silver and gold.

Over the years he has successfully bred over 130 species of birds , some of which have also been exhibited and with his offspring has won multiple national group winners, state winners and state group winners with various parakeets and agapornis / forpus species.

In 1991 the breeding judge examination for large parakeets and parrots was passed. In this capacity, invitations to assessments in Germany and neighboring countries, but also to Brazil, followed.

In 2000 he also passed the exam to become a training manager for birds in accordance with Section 2 TierSchG of May 25, 1998, and carried out numerous training courses.

Publications

His first contribution to a specialist journal appeared in 1978, which has been followed by well over 300 publications in various domestic and foreign specialist journals to date. In 1995, 2013 and 2015 he received the Leopold Keidel Prize for “excellent breeding reports ” in the AZ News and the AZ Bird Info , and in 2008 the Leopold Keidel Gold Medal for the AGZ working group for the first time; In 2009 and 2016 followed with the Leopold-Keidel-Medal in bronze, 2010 and 2017 with the Leopold-Keidel-Medal in silver and in 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015 again with the Leopold-Keidel-Medal in gold, all also in the AGZ , further awards for his publications.

In 2015 he took over the editing of the new specialist magazine " Neophema & Neopsephotus Spezial".

In an association of authors with Renate Ehlenbröker and Eckhard Lietzow , four specialist books have been created, one of which has been translated into French and is now available in its second edition. These four books followed with the book "Neophema / Neopsephotus - The grass parakeets and their mutations", another work as a single author.
