St Moninna's Well (also St Bline's Holy Well , Irish Tobar Naoimh Blathnaidh ) is a holy spring . It is located on the slopes of Slieve Gullion at Killevy, north of the churches of Killevy in County Down in Northern Ireland . An Irish inscription on the shrine reads "Tobar Naoimh Blathnaidh", source of the holy Blathnaidh, another name for Moninna.

The 600 m up to the Holy Spring are very steep. Traditionally, a pilgrimage took place on July 6th. After 1825 the existence of the spring was almost forgotten until it was rediscovered by Father James Donnelly in 1880. The pilgrimage was resumed in 1928 but only survived until 1934. The spring is in good condition and several clooties are attached to the tree north of the well.

Legend

Irish Saint Moninna (also known as Bline, Darerca, Moninne and Edin in Scotland) was a Louth king's daughter who, according to legend, was baptized by Saint Patrick . She lived in the west of Ireland around 435-518 AD and followed Saint Ibar when he moved to Wexford . She later traveled north and founded her first monastery in Faughart, the birthplace of St. Brigid . She later moved to Armagh and founded a monastery in Killevy, where she is believed to be buried.
