The Evangelical Church of St. Nikolaus is in the Elgersburg community in the Ilm district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish Geratal in the parish of Arnstadt-Ilmenau of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

The church was previously a chapel ( Clausenkapelle ), whose year of construction can no longer be proven. In 1758 the church was rebuilt. The tower, which was badly damaged in the Seven Years' War , was restored 16 years later.

An inscription in the font with the number 1767 probably refers to the year of purchase. The year 1848, engraved on the baptismal bowl, attests to the date of purchase.

In 2010, supported by the KiBa Foundation, the sponge renovation in the masonry on the north side and the replacement of the infected wood and plastering work took place.
