The Roman Catholic St. Ottilie Chapel in Bittenau , a district of the Unteregg municipality in the Unterallgäu district , Bavaria , is a small, listed building from the 18th century.

Building description

The chapel at the west end of the hamlet of Bittenau consists of plastered quarry stone masonry. The chapel consists of a semicircular closed, flat-roofed interior. Arched windows can be found on both sides of the end, as well as in the wide arched niches of the longitudinal walls. The access to the chapel was previously through an arched door on the west wall. However, this access was relocated to the north wall of the chapel, in which there is a rectangular door. A small belfry , more recent than the time of construction, with a tin tip was placed on the west gable . The west facade of the chapel is paneled with wood.

Interior

In the sanctuary there is a brick stipe on which there is a wooden and cased predella . The predella originally belonged to a two-column altar structure from the 18th century. Small wooden figures, from the middle of the 18th century, are on the predella, these represent St. Ottilia and St. Catherine of Siena or the blessed Irmengard. The small statuettes of St. Wendelin and from the first half of the 18th century Isidore. The pews in the chapel date from the 19th century and have a raised rim with central rosettes on the tail cheeks.
