Church of St. Peter and Paul

The church of St. Peter and Paul is the village church in Heinzerath. With its four different roof heights, it looks peculiar. In the midst of the old linden trees that surround the cemetery, however, it offers an atmospheric, picturesque sight.

The west tower as the oldest part of the chapel, first mentioned in a document in 1374, probably dates back to the 13th century. Until the 18th century, the current sacred building was added to in each of the following centuries. In the 16th and 17th centuries the church even had two altars.

Most of the furnishings in the church date from the 18th century.
