Heinzerath

Heinzerath is a district in the north of the community -free municipality of Morbach in the Hunsrück in Rhineland-Palatinate . It has about 320 inhabitants (2019). The hamlets Brieschmühle and Mergenermühle also belong to Heinzerath .

geography

Heinzerath lies between the Morbach districts of Elzerath , Merscheid and Rapperath . The community of Gornhausen is located further north .

At the place the Heinzerbach flows past into the Dhron .

politics

The mayor is Friedhelm Schlarp (2019).

The Heinzerath coat of arms shows in the upper half two crossed lifting hooks on a silver background, including two upright golden keys on a red background. The lifting hooks indicate the final syllable in the name of the place, the keys as insignia of St. Peter to the patron of the small church of the place.

Attractions

In addition to the Catholic Church of St. Peter and Paul, there are two schoolhouses from two centuries and many farmhouses from the 19th century. Parts of the church date from the 14th century. There are two striking linden trees in front of the church . The town's waterworks were built in 1908 in Art Nouveau style and recently renovated.

The closest federal highways are the B 269 and the B 327 ( Hunsrückhöhenstraße ).
