from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The parish church of St. Quirin is a Roman Catholic church in Staudheim in the town of Rain in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries . The church consecrated to Quirinus von Tegernsee in the Donauwörth deanery in the diocese of Augsburg is a listed building.

Building history

The tower probably dates from the 13th or early 14th century, the choir and nave from the first half of the 15th century. The nave was raised at the end of the 17th century and lengthened to the west in 1833/34. The vestibule and northern sacristy were built in 1992.

architecture

The choir is closed on three sides and drawn in with baroque, arched windows to the north and south and a round window to the east. On the outside of the choir there are detached buttresses with a pent roof. The ship has a flat ceiling and a west gallery.

painting

A specialty of the church are frescoes in the choir from around 1420. Uncoverings were made in 1933 and 1948. Among the motifs on the south wall, the birth of Christ and the flight to Egypt are particularly well preserved. Four pictures on the north wall of the choir, six pictures on the inside of the choir arch and three frescoes on the rear of the high altar as well as inscriptions with the ten commandments complete the medieval sermon in color .

Furnishing

The high altar from the middle of the 17th century was rebuilt after war-related damage (April 1945) using old parts, the altar sheet from around 1900 (St. Quirin) was restored by the painter Johann Pfohmann, who lives in Hohenschäftlarn . The side altars (Mary and Joseph) are more recent, most of the figural decorations on the altars are from the 17th century.
