history

The St. Rochus Hospital is one of the oldest specialist psychiatric clinics in Westphalia. It was founded in 1848 by the nurses from the Third Order of St. Francis in St. Mauritz near Münster . The community of the so-called "Mauritz Franciscan Sisters" was founded in Telgte in 1844 by Father Johann Christoph Bernsmeyer . A short time later, the Franciscan Sisters took over the care of mentally ill patients in the St. Rochus Hospital. In 1992 the hospital received the compulsory care contract for the Warendorf district.

After the completion of a new ward block with six wards in 1999, a new therapy building was inaugurated in mid-2005. In the course of the further implementation of the structural target planning, a new building with two psychotherapy stations was put into operation in September 2012. In November 2015, a new farm building with a central kitchen, cafeteria as well as office and meeting rooms was opened.
